Poker Staking
Staking online or even live poker players has become hugely popular in the poker world. Players have been staking each other for a long time but the last few years with the huge increase of poplularity of online poker, staking has become a way of life for many players. No matter your playing level, you can benefit from poker staking, whether it be getting staked by people so your not risking all your own money, or whether its risking your own money staking better players who play in big tournaments. Iv had a few poker staking experiences, staking on other players. The most profit i made was staking $5 for a share of a player on Full Tilt Pokers winnings, the player won and then shipped me my share which was just over $1,000. Where else can you bet $5 for a $1,000 return!!!
Various poker pro's take part in staking, many being staked to huge wins. Scotty Nguyen, Greg Raymer and Jamie Gold were all staked when they won the coveted WSOP Main Event. Annette Obrestad was also another popular online pro who got staked to play the World Series Of Poker Europe tournament, and ended up winning it, making her stakers extremely profitable.
Although the thought of players winning for you is very appealing you must be careful if you are staking players. You should only stake trusted players who have been staked a few times, and also don't be afraid to ask them questions such as why they want staked, how successful they have been etc. Also another way to know the player is a good stake is to ask their previous stakers how their experience with the player was.
There are mainly two forms of staking, which are:
Staking - This is when you pay for a player to enter a single tournament or buy a percentage of their action in it. Usually a 50-50 percentage of profits is agreed and the staker doesn't expect a return of his stake if the player fails to cash.
Bankrollong - This is a longer term investment. This is when the staker provides the player with a bankroll to play a certain number of games. For instance, the staker would provide the player $1000 to play $20 sit n go's, and in return agree that they will split the profit after a certain length of time, number of games played, or when the player makes a certain amount of profit.
